Good meeting between neighbours
On 27th April 2010, Norway and Russia signed a bilateral intention agreement concerning higher education. On Monday 18th March 2013 State Secretary Ragnhild Setsaas at The Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research met Alexandr Klimov, Russian Vice-Minister for Education and Research at University of Nordland.
More Norwegian students to Russia
More and more Norwegian students also choose to take part of their studies in Russia. In 2012 306 Norwegian students studied at higher education Russian institutions, whereas 1195 Russian students studied in Norway. More than a third of these Russian and Norwegian students were students at University of Nordland.
The Norwegian-Russian education agreement and cooperation in University of the Arctic includes more than 300 Russian bachelor and master degree students at Bodø Graduate School of Business and The Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Nordland.
Bodø Graduate School of Business at University of Nordland has been given 4 million Norwegian Crowns for the period stretching until 2015 from SIU (The Norwegian Centre for Internationalisation of Higher Education).
These funds are to be used for Arctic Bridge.
Arctic Bridge is a partnership agreement to stimulate master and PhD students to choose research and leadership careers in the oil, gas and mineral idustries in The Arctic.
Apart from University of Nordland, the agreement includes Baltic State Technical University (St. Petersburg), MGIMO University (Moscow), Murmansk State Technical University, Norther Arctic Federal University (Arkhangel), Tyumen State University and Ukhta State Technical University.
