U of S and Russian Researchers Teaming up
The University of Saskatchewan and a university in Russia are sharing their northern research.
A partnership was forged when a delegation of Arctic researchers from the Northern Arctic Federal University in Russia visited Saskatoon earlier this month.
Greg Poelzer (pel-zer), Director of the International Centre for Northern Governance and Development at the U of S, says the U of S has been identified as a national leader in Arctic research initiatives.
NArFU is looking to learn more about governance and economic development in northern communities.
Poelzer points to work Cameco has done in the north to build economic partnerships with First Nations communities.
He says the U of S will also be sharing its successes with distance education delivery.
In return, the Russian university will share insight into northwest Russia's success with international and regional cooperation to maximize economic development.
