Deputy Vice-Rector of International Cooperation Marina Kalinina at the newly established Northern Arctic Federal University in Arkhangel, Russia is at present visiting University of Nordland on the occasion of the anniversary seminar for 20 years of cooperation between UIN and Russian universities.
Marina Kalinina has had meetings with the faculties and university administration staff to discuss several opportunities to develop the well-founded cooperation originally started in the '90s. During the first years University of Arctic and Bachelor of Circumpolar Studies were key fields to work together on. BCS has indeed proved a great success in terms of providing students with a multi-disciplinary bachelor degree program which students can take as distance learning and many students have graduated.
With the establishment of University of Nordland (UIN) and hub university NARFU the cooperation enters into a new phase. Both institutions are presented with great opportunities to bring forward more co-operation on master programs and research. Rector at NARFU Elena Kudryashova is also participating in the meeting which has particularly concentrated on the fields of social sciences and management.
