The Department of the German Language is one of the oldest departments of the institute. The Department focuses on teaching German for students pursuing a German Major, as well as on teaching theoretical linguistic and linguodidactics.

Department‘s research and academic focus is in the fields of integrative and competence-based approaches, multimedia assisted instruction, German temporology and aspectology, intercultural aspect in study of German culture and literature.

The Department offers Master’s and PhD programs in the field of foreign language education.
