On March 19, 2021, International round table "Social Networks in Higher Education: Entertainment or Actual Help in Learning a Foreign Language?" took place. The round table was organized by the NArFU Higher School of Social Sciences, Humanities and International Communication (Arkhangelsk) and Lectorate of the German Academic Exchange Service (UrFU, Yekaterinburg) and was held online.
In 2021, online meetings of NArFU students with students of Ohio State University (Columbus) learning Russian were resumed. The Department of English Philology, Nordic Languages and Language Pedagogy joined the project "Open Bridge" in 2018. In the course of the project, NArFU students learning English and OSU students keen on the Russian language and Russian culture discuss through spacebridge in Russian and English different topics that interest young people from both sides of the ocean.

Valeria Pavozkova and Alina Gileva, students of the Higher School of Social Sciences, Humanities and International Communication, took part in the 15th International Conference of Students and Young Scientists "The Holocaust: Remembrance and Prevention", that was held in Moscow on January 27-29, 2021. Their invitations to the conference were the result of an international competition. More than 70 works were sent to this competition. In preparation for the Mikhail Lomonosov's 310th anniversary, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Arkhangelsk Region in cooperation with the Lomonosov Foundation and the publishing house "Russian Word", with the support of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, Arkhangelsk Regional Institute of Open Education and Arkhangelsk Regional Office of the Russian Military and Historical Society implemented a project to create a historical and cultural atlas named "Mikhail Lomonosov's Birthplace in the History of Russia from Ancient Times to the Present Day".

A series of live streams with the directors of the university's academic departments is being held at the Northern (Arctic) Federal University. This time, the Director of the Higher School of Social Sciences, Humanities and International Communication Alexander Tamitskiy answered the questions of the students, applicants and their parents.
On December 23, a regular meeting of the French Poetry Club was held. It was organized by the Specialized Department of Automated Translation Technologies based upon the “AKM-West” Translation Bureau together with the Center of International Information Resources of the Arkhangelsk Regional Scientific Library. The event was attended by the teachers and students of the Higher School of Social Sciences, Humanities and International Communication, teachers and students of Severodvinsk Gymnasium № 14, employees and readers of the library.
There were six teams of the second-, third- and fourth-year students majoring in international relations and regional studies of Russia. Graduates of the department, who work in these fields, and undergraduates of Saint Petersburg State University took part in the game as well. In total, 48 participants were involved in the game.
On 23-24 December, the round table «Crossing the Boundaries of Subject Knowledge» was held. It was organized by the Department of English Philology, Nordic Languages and Language Pedagogy to discuss scientific interests of young scientists. It was a videoconference with first-year students.
