The qualification requires major multilateral biological and environmental education in the field of agriculture. The curriculum comprises different disciplines that develop a complex specialist who can understand the regularities of functioning of agricultural ecosystems. The graduate can work with the new agricultural technologies, techniques of soil conservation and technologies of boosting soil fertility.

Theoretical knowledge received by the students is integrated in practice: practical trainings in botany, soil geography, grass farming, agricultural chemistry, etc. and internships in agricultural and agrochemical enterprises, state variety-testing fields, greenhouses, in the research institute of agriculture and its affiliates.

The specialists of ecological and agricultural profile are rare in the Arkhangelsk region and they are in high demand.

The specialists in agroecology can work in agricultural enterprises, environmental organizations, in the bodies of Russian Agricultural Supervision, in rural municipalities, in the Inspectorate of the State Commission for Variety Testing, in agrochemical service stations, in greenhouses and research institutions.

Land is the main wealth of our country. It is a basic natural resource, a basis for placement and development of all sectors of the economy, principal means of production in agriculture and main source of food. Therefore organization of rational use and protection of land is the most important condition for the existence and prosperity of people.

The fields of professional activity of a graduate are land resources used in various industries and sectors of economy, legal regime of land use, quantity and quality of land, management and control of land condition and use. The graduate also works with registration, evaluation and control of real estate, GIS and cadastral information systems, project documentation.

250100.62 “Forestry work” (Bachelor)

The specialist in forestry work focuses his activity on providing multipurpose, rational, continuous, sustainable use of forests to meet the needs of society in forest resources and forest itself. The trainings on basic disciplines are conducted in well-equipped classrooms and laboratories; theoretical knowledge is integrated into practice. The students work in the dendrological garden and in the teaching-experimental forestry.

On 3-4 years of education our students go on internships in forest areas of the Archangelsk region and other regions of Russia, in the forest inventory expeditions, greening organizations, national parks and reserves of the country. Student scientific groups are organized in the departments, and our students annually participate in scientific conferences in NArFU and other universities of Russia.

250400.62 “Technology of timber production and wood processing production” (bachelor)

Timber transportation is one of the main links of manufacturing process of wood processing. The department of timber production of NArFU is one of the pioneers in development of transport logistics in timber industry.

The department trains specialists of wide profile who know all processes of harvesting and transportation of timber and have skills and abilities in the field of customs affairs, information technology, modern management techniques. The curriculum includes several linguistic disciplines that will allow the graduate to use foreign language in his work.

250700.62 “Landscape Architecture” (Bachelor)

This specialty began to work in 2006. Landscape architecture is a good direction for those who have the desire for beauty, for the people who have love of nature in their hearts. The department is dedicated to understanding and designing different landscapes. Here you will learn different landscape composition techniques and get the necessary amount of urban and biological knowledge.

Our graduates are highly-trained professionals versed in the methods of landscape organization of the territory. They have appropriate skills to solve urban and biological problems in the European North.

The students learn the basics of urban planning, landscape architecture, the history of landscape architecture and modern techniques of this art as well as modern processes, and techniques of analysis, synthesis and implementation used in the design profession.

Our graduates work in enterprises of green building as landscape architects, in arboretums and experimental stations. They can also work as florists and landscape designers.

Creation of landscape design is not less important than creation of interior design. After all, you and your family spend much time in the garden. Before making a landscape project the designer will examine your territory and find answers to the following questions:

- Where should be the approach road to the house;

- Where should be the footpaths;

- How should be the drainage system organized;

- Where should be the artificial ponds;

- What structures can be decorated with vines;

- Where should be the protective cluster of bushes placed (that can hide the owner from prying eyes).

The landscape architect plans the area in the way to create harmony between the house and the garden. The designer uses the best features of relief and environment.

The direction is best for creative people with strong engineering mentality. The work carries a variety of opportunities and results of your activity are always foreseeable.

During the course the students do internships in the best parks and botanical gardens of St. Petersburg: Oranienbaum, Summer Garden, Mikhailovsky Garden, Pavlovsk, Tsarskoye Selo, Catherine Garden, Peterhof, Gatchina, Botanical Garden of the St. Petersburg Forestry Academy.

261400.62 "Technology of artistic processing of materials" (bachelor)

Education in this direction includes basic training in technological subjects and art studies; the education ensures harmonious development of students’ personalities, giving them the skills and knowledge necessary for further work in the industrial and artistic enterprises as well as for their personal business.

Students learn about all technological processes, tools and equipment of timber industry, operation frameworks and economy of wood processing enterprises, documentation and marketing. Students use internships in the leading enterprises and companies of Archangelsk, North-West region and central Russia. Some new disciplines have been added in the curriculum: architecture, basics of building business, psychology, design, information technology, marketing of forest products, business analysis, advertising, economic sciences, foreign language courses for business, law, customs, etc. A set of artistic disciplines has also been added in the list: drawing, painting, chromatics, sculpture, speech culture, surface anatomy, art history, etc.

Art processing technology includes a range of tools, methods and techniques for processing of materials in order to make the products artistically valuable and suitable for the consumers.

Our graduates work in sawmills and wood processing enterprises, furniture factories, design and marketing firms, in the defense industry, in construction or housing companies, in the design or restoration organizations, exhibition halls, salons specialized in creation and production of decoration and art products, research institutions.

Professional activities of a graduate: manual protection and monitoring of protective and rescue equipment, definition of areas of high risk in the man-made environment, participation in research projects, implementation of theoretical, computational and experimental researches aimed at developing new methods and systems of health protection in extreme situations, calculation of technical and economic effectiveness of measures aimed at prevention and elimination of the consequences of accidents and disasters, analysis of negative factors and anthropogenic risks of modern production, development of projects aimed at protection of areas and elimination of the consequences of accidents, disasters and natural phenomena.
