Northern Arctic Federal University has an on-line application system. After you apply on-line and send your enclosures to the international office ( the office will contact you.

  • Certified copy of degree certificate qualifying access to applied study level in original language and its certified English translation
  • Certified copy of academic transcript in original language and its certified English translation

  • Learning Agreement approved by the home university (for exchange students)

Nomination from a partner university is required for exchange students

Type of accommodation

Students’ hostels with shared kitchen (for 5-10 persons) and bathroom (for 2 persons)


All buildings are located close to public transport, shopping centers and NArFU campuses.

  • a standard room (for 1 person)
  • a large room (for 2 persons)

Depends on type of room:

4000 RUR per person/month (for a single room)

2000 RUR per person/month (for a double room)

Room and kitchen are furnished. Wi-Fi is available.

Summer semester

There is no summer semester, but during the summer, students can take summer studies, which may consist of exams, personal projects or research, at NArFU and abroad. Lectures and seminars are not usually offered from June/July to August, with the exception of some field courses. Most of the libraries are open during the summer.


In addition to summer holidays, there is a break at the New Year and Christmas Celebrations (Jan 01 – Jan 10) and some other public holidays across the year.


All international students should be registered in Russian Migration Service within 7 days after arrival. The documents are collected by Visa Support and Registration Office of NArFU and brought to the Migration Service.

  • Migration card (original) and 2 copies of it
  • Visa (original) and 2 copies of it.

Every student gets a tutor who meets him/her at the airport

(weekdays are in priority for arrival)

All international students coming to NArFU are strongly recommended to obtain an insurance policy before or upon arrival in Arkhangelsk.
