NArFU Hosted International Conference for Young Researchers «Arctic and the North in the Context of International Processes»
The 1st International Conference for Young Researchers «Arctic and the North in the Context of International Processes» was organized by NArFU Department of Regional Studies, International Relations and Political Science with support from the Russian Society of Political Scientists and gathered undergraduate and postgraduate students and young researchers from NArFU, Moscow State University and Saint Petersburg State University.
The decision concerning the University’s membership of ASRTU was made following the visit of NArFU delegation to Harbin and Beijing in November 2018.
In November 2018 NArFU hosted celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Barents cooperation and NArFU-UiT bilateral partnership. One of the program’s highlights was the panel discussion «Northern Universities as Centers of Regional Development».
On 18 June Northern Arctic Federal University in Arkhangelsk, Russia launched the X Summer School of the Russian Language and Culture. The School is an educational project organized by NArFU School of Humanities annually in mid June. Its programme combines language teaching with modules dedicated to the traditions, culture, history and economics of the Russian North. Russian is taught to students with any language proficiency level.
The Russian north2north Mobility Partner Institution Contact Meeting, organized by the International Cooperation Office and UArctic Research Office teams at the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, took place on May 22, 2018
The meeting aimed to be a contact point between Russian North2North member institutions, North2North leadership and National North2North agencies in Sweden (Swedish Institute) and Finland (The Finnish National Agency for Education).
On 17-18 April 2018 NArFU hosted the 1st Korea-Russia Workshop on Arctic Research. Scientists from the two countries discussed biodiversity and energy in the Arctic and identified cooperation prospects.
