DeConcrete experts finalized project activity for the period of 9 months and made plans for the summer.

In compliance with the key strategic objective of the DeConcrete project, the works were carried out in close cooperation between all project partners (Russia, Norway, Finland). The experimental results obtained during the project are reflected in five research papers, reports, presentations, and recommendations. The experts took part in more than 10 seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and meetings organized to present the project objectives.

In a recently held meeting of Ice Operations project, the partners have presented the results of comprehensive research that involves the intellectual resources and the infrastructures available to them in Russia, Norway, Finland and Sweden, designed to produce up-to-date forecasts of the ice impact likely to be experienced by the Arctic development projects in the northern seas and to facilitate the economic risk-related decision-making.

On 17-21 May, 2021 team of NArFU take part in Open Inter-university WorldSkills Championship in Moscow Pedagogical State University in the category "Technologies of Physical Development". It consisted of competitor Ksenia Kurengina, a fourth-year student of the Higher School of Psychology, Pedagogy and Physical Education and expert Irina Varentsova, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Education.

From May 20 to May 22, the Higher School of Social Sciences, Humanities and International Communication hosted the participants of the 3rd All-Russian Interdisciplinary Youth Congress "Issues of Historical Sources Interpretation". The traditions of the congress were started at the Pomor University, when the conference of the same name began to take place.

It was an all-Russian scientific and practical conference on the theme "Scientific Collaboration of the Federal Universities on Bachelor’s Programes in the Field of Applied Linguistics in the Context of Digitalization". The event was organised by the Department of Translation Studies and Applied Linguistics of the Higher School of Social Sciences, Humanities and International Communication and scientific and educational center “Integrative Translation Studies in Sub-Arctic Dimension” of NArFU named after M. Lomonosov.

As part of The 9th All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Development of the North-Arctic Region: History and Traditions of the Arctic Peoples in Changing Climatic Conditions" held on April 29-30, 2021, on the basis of NArFU the first launch of the short-term professional development program "The Humanitarian Dimension of the Russian Arctic" has been successfully implemented. The program was organised by the Higher School of Social Sciences, Humanities and International Communication of NArFU, as there is a demand for advanced training of university teachers and researchers in this particular subject area.

On 28 April, 2021, another meeting of translation workshop was held. This time students and teachers of the Department of Translation Studies and Applied Linguistics and scientific and educational center “Integrative Translation Studies in Sub-Arctic Dimension” met with Igor Khramov, member of Union of Translators of Russia since 2001. Igor Khramov translated "The Pious Dance" by Klaus Mann, "Arne's Heritage" by Siegfried Lenz, short stories by Stefan Heym "Women always disappear/men are always to blame", reports of A. Schmorell's interrogation, hero of German resistance, in a Gestapo prison.

At NArFU Scientists Discussed Issues of Preserving Historic and Cultural Heritage in the Changing Climatic Conditions

On April 30, 2021, The IX All-Russian Conference "Development of the North-Arctic Region: History and Traditions of the Arctic Peoples in Changing Climatic Conditions" completed its work. It was organised by the Higher School of Social Sciences, Humanities and International Communication of NArFU in cooperation with the National Arctic Research and Education Consortium, Petrozavodsk State University, Murmansk Arctic State University, Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University. The conference was attended by scientists from the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences, Centre of Arctic Exploration, Department of Country Studies of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow Institute of Architecture (State Academy) (Moscow), Petrozavodsk State University, Saint Petersburg State University and other educational and scientific establishments. In general, the conference brought together 171 researchers from 10 different cities of Russia and other countries.
