N2N program opens opportunities for NArFU students

Rostislav Kolykhaev, student of NArFU Institute of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences took part in N2N exchange program. He spent one semester at University of Tromso studying international relations and the Norwegian language:

One of the most vivid moments of my life was a day when I received a grant to study in the northernmost university on the Earth – University of Tromso. I had pressed towards this aim for several years.

I can tell that all my expectations have completely declared with reality. Tromso is an extremely lively place of contrasts. Warm and shiny morning can be easily changed by frosty and snowy evening. As well as the local Norwegian seem to be reserved until you get aquatinted with them.

However, the Norwegian education system amazed me most of all. It’s very unfamiliar to Russian students to attend the lectures which are free-will to attend. It’s supposed that students do majority of their coursework on their own. That is a kind of new experience to me which helps to advance in qualities like self-discipline or self-organization.

Due to my studies abroad I have improved much my English and Norwegian and knowledge about the region in general. I sincerely thank UArctic and NArFU that help my dreams come true.
