International conference started in Bodø

This Monday a international conference “Innovation in Education, Research and Business: Norwegian and Russian perspectives” started in the Norwegian town of Bodø. It was organized jointly by the Northern (Arctic) Federal University and the University of Nordland. NArFU was represented by a delegation headed by Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Marina Kalinina and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Development Natalia Chicherina.

Before the conference a guided tour around the University of Nordland was organized, attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Alexander Klimov and State Secretary to the Norwegian Minister of Education and Research Ragnhild Setsaas.

Later a working meeting on the international project “Arctic Bridge” took place in the framework of the conference, aimed at cooperation in the fields of postgraduate education and research in the area of management of extractive industries in the Far North. NArFU was represented by Director of the Institute of Economics and Management Alexander Plastinin, Head of the department of Finance and Credit Georgiy Sukhanov and two graduate students from the same institute.

The conference aims to establish a forum for dialogue and exchange of best practice between Norwegian and Russian higher education institutions in the fields of education, research and business cooperation. Special attention is given to best practices, initiatives and prospects of cooperation.

The conference will continue on March 19, when parallel sessions will work in the University of Nordland. These parallel sessions will focus on innovations in education.
