FAMARB: Facility Management of Residential Buildings in Barents Region Hosted an International Online Seminar

Past week saw an international online seminar dedicated to the challenges of housing renovation and management in cold climate. The event was organized by Oulu University of Applied Sciences and held within the framework of FAMARB: Facility Management of Residential Buildings in Barents Region, a project funded by the EU-Russia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme “Kolarctic 2014-2020.”

Participants – the experts of the UIT—The Arctic University of Norway, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, NArFU, and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden – have discussed the current issues and presented possible solutions based on the experience of their countries. On NArFU’s side, director of the Higher School of Power Engineering, Oil and Gas, Pavel Marjyandyshev, talked about the energy saving systems available to Russian residential buildings, while associate professor of the Department of Composite Materials and Environmental Engineering, Maria Frolova, shared the experience with indoor climate monitoring system, aimed also at reducing the environmental load, by the example of the NArFU dormitory – the project’s demo site.

The Scandinavian experts, on their part, presented the experience of using energy optimization technologies in their countries, by showing the ways to minimize environmental load from the existing buildings and facilities.
