By the decree of the Russian Federation President, 2020 was declared the year of the great Russian writer and translator Ivan Bunin's 150th anniversary celebration. Ivan Bunin was born on 10 (22) October, 1870. This year, the 150th anniversary of the first Russian Nobel Prize winner for Literature and double Pushkin Prize honoree (1903-1909) is widely celebrated both in Russia and all around the world.
On 10 November, 2020, the NArFU Department of Translation Studies and Applied Linguistics, Literature Department, and Research and Education Center "Integrative Translation Studies in Sub-Arctic Dimension" hold all-Russian scientific and practical online conference "Ivan Bunin – an outstanding writer, poet and translator".
As a part of the Bunin's forum, urgent matters of studying the creative legacy of the writer in literary, linguistic and translation aspects are planned to be discussed on a plenary and section sessions. Arkhangelsk Regional office of the Union of Translators of Russia and Arkhangelsk Regional Scientific Library are the co-organizers of the online forum. Translators’ Union members will present speeches related to Ivan Bunin's translation activities and translations made by Bunin into different languages. The staff members of the Arkhangelsk Regional Scientific Library will present the books, available in the library's collection in relation to literary and translation work of the outstanding novelist and poet.
