Launched in 2019, the international research project NDI Think Tank / Development of think tank functions of the Northern Dimension Institute pursues ways of supporting political decision-makers with research-based expertise through Northern Dimension partnerships. The initiative for this project came from NDI coordinating partners, including NArFU which joined the network in 2013.
NDI Think Tank unfolds through a collaborative effort of Aalto University, University of Oulu (Finland), International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (Austria) and St. Petersburg State University of Economics, whose teams are tasked with the analysis of issues as diverse as transport logistics, navigational safety, cold climate alternative energy, innovations for culture, health-saving and healthy ageing policy for northern communities.
The project promotes its outcomes at international venues, one being the Northern Dimension Future Forum, and through its platform https://www.northerndimension.info.
Among the recently posted (July 2020) analytical reviews is NDI Policy Brief 10: Symbolic resources of the Russian North in the global experience economy, prepared by Anna Solovieva, professor at NArFU Institute of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences, Department of General History.
The next year’s agenda will see the project hosting research seminars and international conferences to be contributed by academics, public authorities and civil society, and posting more analytical reviews and articles.
