The international project «Development of Think Tank Functions of the Northern Dimension Institute» has received grant support from the European Commission for the upcoming three years of joint work within the Northern Dimension Institute.
The project experts from different countries will conduct research within the priority areas of four Northern Dimension partnerships: environment, healthcare and social development, transport and logistics, culture. The results will be introduced at the annual ND Future Forum and provide the basis for recommendations for ND managing authorities and partners.
According to NArFU International Cooperation Department, the project will involve the University of Oulu (Finland) and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis. NArFU researchers will work in interdisciplinary research teams on the Northern Sea Route infrastructure development, security in the North, Arctic biomonitoring, energy and energy efficiency, Arctic law, life quality improvement in the North, gerontology.
Since 2013 NArFU, Aalto University and Saint Petersburg State University of Economics have been acting as co-coordinators of the Northern Dimension Institute uniting over 30 universities and research institutions from 11 countries and aimed at promoting interdisciplinary research within the NDI policy priority areas.
