The Institute of Mathematics, Information and Space Technologies (IMIST) will take part in the mobile applications development contest organized by the Department of Information Resources and Systems of the Arkhangelsk Mayor's Office.
‘This year in the framework of the Information Technology Festival the IMIST hosted a mobile applications development hackathon (a hackathon is a programming marathon which usually lasts for a couple of days)’ says Olga Yufryakova, Director of the IMIST Innovative Training Center. ‘The event was co-organized by the Arkhangelsk Region Government and the company Beeline. The hackathon participants surprised everyone with their ability to promptly create mobile apps. This sparkled the interest of the Department of Information Resources and Systems. The Department’s delegation led by its head Alexander Glebov visited the Institute and learnt more about the scientific work of our staff and students, including their research on mobile apps’.
According to Olga, it has now been agreed that the IMIST students will develop mobile applications for the Mayor's Office. As stated by Alexander Glebov, the contest will be held in the IMIST in the upcoming February.
‘I hope our guys won’t let us down and will manage to develop the necessary mobile applications’ worries Olga Yufryakova. ‘The relevant tools in the form of free software are available on the market. All we need to do is set clear goals before the students’.
