Tempus Capacity Building Training in Ghent, Belgium

One-week capacity building training hosted by KU Leuven took place in Ghent (Belgium) on 28 September – 3 October, 2014. Partners from Armenia, Russia, Ukraine and European partners worked on the alignment projects within Tempus “Achieving and Checking the Alignment Between Academic Programmes and Qualification Frameworks” (ALIGN).

The training allowed the partners to share ideas, knowledge and experiences on the key principles and good practices for programme design and help to develop the understanding of European Higher Education Area quality assurance frameworks. Armenian, Russian and Ukrainian partners will continue dealing with the development of institutional guidelines and their quality management processes with regard to the national, sectoral and institutional challenges. At the Northern (Arctic) Federal University these activities will be implemented under the thematic leadership of Natalia Chicherina, vice-rector for education and academic development. Two NArFU study programs were selected for alignment with the European Higher Education Area, Bologna principles and the national qualification framework within the project: Master Programme on Linguistics (coordinator Elena Vorobeva, Institute of Philology and Cross-Cultural Communication) and Master Programme on Ecology and Environmental Management (coordinator Svetlana Lukina, Institute of Natural Sciences and Technologies).

The event also was used to review the progress of the Align project and identify needs, activities and deadlines for the second Training Programme in December 2014, Dublin (Ireland).
