20.01.2014

The eight conference “Arctic Frontiers 2014” started in the Norwegian city of Tromsø. This year the conference theme is “Humanity in the Arctic” which divides in two specific sub-themes for discussion: “Health, environment and society” and “Shipping in the Arctic”.

The conference “Arctic Frontiers” includes political and scientific sections. The political section is attended by the rector of NArFU Elena Kudryashova and vice rector for international cooperation Marina Kalinina. Representative of the Institute of Shipbuilding and Arctic Marine Engineering of NArFU Mark Ivlev will take part in the scientific section and make a presentation. Our university will also display a stand devoted to the research project “Arctic Floating University”. Assistant of rector for scientific work Constantine Zajkov will talk about the results of the expeditions to the Arctic.

The forum has become a traditional center for discussion of issues related to the Arctic. More than a thousand representatives of different countries have come to Tromsø – scietists, politicians, civil society representatives. They will share their ideas about how to deal with the global changes that are taking place in the Arctic.
