Description:  The GS3D program offers students the competences to work as the leading experts and managers in global ICT companies. Students can progress with their studies to PhD degree and participate in GS3D research groups. By completing the courses in information processing sciences a student can act as an independent expert in a goal-oriented project and is able to professionally manage such a project. They receive skills to understand and analyze dynamics of the software business environment in order to lead multicultural teams, projects and units. Graduates GS3D will also offer an inspiring environment to improve communication skills and to transfer of cultural knowledge as well as knowledge of international laws, IPR and regulations concerning contracting.
Contents: 

The program provides multidisciplinary knowledge of software, systems and services development in a global context.

2 year

3 semester – specialization at partner institution

4 semester – thesis either at home or partner institution

1 year

1 semester – studies at home institution;

2 semester – studies at home institution;

Establishment:  Barents Master's Degree Program in Software, Systems and Services Development in the Global Environment (GS3D) has started in 2010 within the framework of Barents Cross Border University (BCBU) which offers and creates setting for cross-border learning environment between the universities in Northern Finland and North-West Russia, but also in the whole Barents region. 
Qualification and Records: 

GS3D graduates will be granted a Barents Master’s Degree in Software Systems and Services Development in the Global Environment from the University of Oulu.

Upon completion of courses at NArFU students receive:

  • Transcript of records.

Admission Requirements: 

Bachelor degree in IT or equivalent.
