Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre delivered to NArFu students and teachers a public lecture on the priorities of Russian-Norwegian cooperation and the development of the Arctic region.

September 30, 2010

NArFu’s academic council holds its first meeting. The official celebration of the Freshman Day takes took place in M.V. Lomonosov Drama Theatre.

October26, 2010

Lomonosov Institute has been created. Tatiana Butorina, Vice-President of Lomonosov Foundation, head of NArFU Department of Pedagogy, Psychology and Professional Education, is appointed its director.

November 7, 2010

NArFU and Skolkovo School of Management in Moscow have made a cooperation agreement on training and advance training of specialists and academic personnel.

November 18, 2010

Center for Remote Sensing of the Arctic saw its opening.

December 7, 2010

The university is authorized to establish the volunteer training center for the 2014 XXII Olympic and the XI Paralympic Games in Sochi.

Forest Research Center saw its opening.

Center for Collective Use of Equipment ‘Arktika’ is opened.

The procedure of restructuring the Northern (Arctic) Federal University through merger with several educational institutions is completed.

September1, 2011

NArFU opened an electronic digital reading hall with access to B.N. Yeltsin Presidential Library.

September 5-16, 2011. For the first time Arkhangelsk holds an Arctic-related documentary film festival titled Arctic Cinema.

September 22–23, 2011. Arkhangelsk holds the II International Forum “Arctic: Territory of Dialogue”.

September 23, 2011. NArFU opens the research office of UArctic.

October 21, 2011. NArFU and RosHydromet sign cooperation agreement. Among the joint implementations is the “Floating University” project.

November 10–12, 2011. NArFU holds the XL Lomonosov Readings. The celebration of the 300th birthday of the great scientist in Arkhangelsk Region was attended by about 300 people.

November 11, 2011. Ceremony for unveiling of the monument to Mikhail Lomonosov in the hall of NArFU’s main building.

November12, 2011. RF Prime Minister V.V. Putin issued a decree to award NArFU Rector Elena Vladimirovna Kudryashova with the Russian Federation Government Prize 2011 in education.

November14, 2011. Moscow school of management Skolkovo launched the personnel reserve programme titled “Arctic Vector of NArFU’s Strategic Development”.

November 15, 2011. RF Minister of Education and Science Andrey Fursenko issued the decree to set up supervisory committee of FSAEE HPE “M.V. Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University”.

November 18, 2011. The Northern (Arctic) Federal University joined the Eurasian Association of Universities.

November19, 2011. NArFU hosted a number of events devoted to the 300th anniversity of M.V. Lomonosov and among them the official meeting of the academic council, the public meeting and laying the foundation of the university’s new library building.

December 5, 2011. The summer research expedition on board the Professor Molchanov set sail.

December 6, 2011. The official opening of the publications and printing center named after V.N. Bulatov.

December12, 2011. NArFU and JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation signed an agreement on establishment of the Institute of Shipbulding and Arctic Marine Engineering.

February 21, 2012. Association of M.V. Lomonsov NArFU’s graduates is created.

February 29, 2012. NArFU held the first celebration of the Arctic’s Day.

March 2012. NArFU established in Institute of Integral Safety.

March2012. The start of the construction of the university’s library.

March 23, 2012. The famous Russian scientist Zhores Alferov delivered a public lecture to NArFU students and teachers titled “Semiconductor Revolution of the XXth century”.

April 11, 2012. Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin issued the director of FSFE Northern Department for Hydrometeorological and Environmental Monitoring Leonid Vasiliev a grant of the Russian Geographical Society for the purposes of Floating University project.

April 17, 2012. The Russian Ministry of Education signed decree No. 302 on liquidation of Saint-Petersburg State Marine Engineering University’s branch Sevmashvtuz and transfer of its employees, students and assets to now NArFU’s branch in Severodvinsk.

May 1, 2012. An idea competition for NArFU’s talisman was launched.

May 15, 2012. Representatives of Hermle officially presented the unique equipment installed in the workshop of NArFU’s Technical College in Severodvinsk (HERMLE C 42 processing center).

June1, 2012. The unique project “Floating University” was launched.

Upcoming events:

On September 12-13, NArFU is holing an international scientific conference: “The History of the Arctic Exploration: from past to future”.

In September-October, NArFU in participating in the celebration of Arkhangelsk Region’s 75th birthday.
