Consul General of Norway in Murmansk Ole Andreas Lindeman and his colleagues met with representatives of the Northern Arctic Federal University and they discussed plans for the further partnership between Arkhangelsk University and Norwegian side.
The Rector of NArFU Elena Kudryashova started this meeting. She greeted the guests and reminded that the university has been cooperating with the Kingdom of Norway for more than 20 years.
"Nowadays, NArFU has 13 agreements on cooperation with the Norwegian side in the field of education and science. 308 students and 14 teachers from our university visited Norway within the framework of academic mobility programs in 2016. We have a lot of common educational programs, and our students are happy to participate in it, " – said Elena Vladimirovna. The Rector of NArFU reminded that this year the University received a megagrant from the Government of the Russian Federation. And the Norwegian scientist Ingvar Thomassen headed the work on this grant. Elena Kudryashova noted that NArFU continues to maintain close cooperation with representatives of Norwegian business. The Norwegian company "Statoil" is still the key partner of the Northern Arctic Federal University in the field of training specialists in the energy industry and developing innovative research. Elena Kudryashova noted that despite the difficult international situation, NArFU and the Norwegian side still have good perspectives for cooperation, due to historical traditions and long-standing partnership, including with the Consulate General of Norway in Murmansk.
Consul General of the Kingdom of Norway in Murmansk Ole Andreas Lindeman said, that NArFU should continue development of scientific and educational activities together with Norwegian organizations. "It is important, that we work and develop together. Together we think how to improve life in the Arctic. We are going through difficult years at the level of political relations, but here, in the North, we need to maintain cooperation and stay together. We are neighbors, and our interaction should improve the lives of the northerners," - said Ole Andreas Lindeman.
This year, Mr. Lindeman leaves the post of Consul General and he is going to work in Africa. His colleagues - the consul of economic relations Ina Nygord Mossin, the head of the Norwegian Barents Secretariat Lars Georg Fordal and “Statoil” representative Artur Pollestad – noted that they hope to continue working together with the NArFU.
"I believe that Arkhangelsk will meet my successor so warm, as it met me. I am very grateful and I hope that our cooperation will still be productive. We have a very strong team," – said General Consul at the end of the meeting.
